    Bookings are essential and must be made no later than 20th July.  Participation is limited to 25 trainees so book in early to avoid missing out.

    Cost: $30 for members who wish to be authorised and FAWNA will arrange year 1 of the subsidised Dave Pinson Manual subscription. For those doing refresher course cost is $10.

    If you are interested in becoming a Flying-fox rescuer and carer you are required to have a current Rabies vaccination, or be in process of receiving them. 

    This is also a refresher course for current bat carers.

    Additional event information

    Any members attending the training who do not have a current acceptable titre level will not be able to physically handle any live or bat bodies at the course.

    Refreshment and lunch are provided at no cost but members with special dietary requirements are asked to self cater.

    Water, Sea & Shore Bird Training - Practical Course

    When: Saturday, 13 September 2025 Time: 9.00-3.30pm Location: Cleaning table & boat ramp on The Parade at North Haven.

    Any member holding a category 8 Rescue authority can rescue and care for these birds, providing one has an appropriate holding facility and training. The reasons we see these birds coming into care can include weather conditions, ingesting foreign matter, fishing tackle, collisions and botulism.

    What to bring/wear:

    Appropriate clothing, closed non slip footwear, hat, towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, drinking water etc. (This is an outside venue) Bring morning tea and lunch or you may buy across the road.

    This training is a follow up to the Water, Sea & Shore Bird training which was held on 8 February at Lake Cathie. This training is for members to monitor, assess and assist any shore birds in need along the area.

     Rescue and Immediate Care (RICC) training course for new FAWNA members

    When: Sunday 19th October, 2025
    Where: TBA
    Time: 9:00am to 4.00 pm
    Cost: $25

    This induction training day is designed for new members who wish to start their wildlife rescue and/or care journey, or who are interested in undertaking FAWNA phone duty.

    Junior Members wishing to attend must be over 12yrs by application

    Refreshments and luncheon are provided at no cost but members with special dietary requirements are asked to self-cater.

    Participation is limited to 25 trainees.

    We will have some heat pads, weighing scales, and probe thermometers available for sale at our cost (no-profit) price. Cash or Eftpos POS payment options are available on the day.
